This impressionistic genre scene, On the Terrace / Veranda in Capri, captures a moment on the island of Capri, long favored by writers, artists, and travelers. In the summer of 1912, Capri became one of the final stops on Rozentāls’ journey through Italy with his wife, Ellija.
Alongside Vilhelms Purvītis and Johans Valters, he was among the few contemporaries who brought Latvian visual art closer to the major European art centers around 1900.
